Distribution of Funds
Since its inception, LexArts has raised tens of millions of dollars in support of the local arts through its annual Fund for the Arts.
In turn, LexArts underwrites general operating expenses for a variety of arts organizations and offers competitive Community Arts Grants for arts projects and programs.
General Operating Support (GOS) Grants provide unrestricted funds to arts organizations that demonstrate strong arts mission fulfillment, fiscal responsibility, sound management and operate on a year-round basis.
Community Arts Development (CAD) Grants are made on a competitive basis for program or project support to a wide variety of nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. Priority is given to projects and programs for innovative endeavors that reach underserved audiences and maintain a high level of artistic quality.
The following is a list of organizations that received grants from LexArts in Fiscal 2009. A list of grant recipients from Fiscal 2006 through Fiscal 2008 can be found
here.
The generosity of Lexington's corporations, businesses, foundations and individuals to the annual Fund for the Arts is the key to LexArts' ability to sustain and increase its giving to arts organizations and individual artists.
